A set of coins.

Coins are pickups in the Super Cat Tales series used as an in-game currency.

Appearance[edit]

Coins are yellow and ovular with a black outline. There are three darker yellow, horizontal stripes visible. They spin as they float in the air.

Game information[edit]

Coins are collected directly in-game by touching them. In Super Cat Tales, Super Cat Tales 2 and Super Cat Tales: PAWS, coins can appear on the level map screen and can be tapped on directly. Super Cat Tales 2, Super Cat Tales: PAWS and Magic Bridge! allow players to purchase coins using real-life currency. In the case of the latter, this feature is present when the player attempts to make an in-game purchase that they do not have enough coins for.

Coins are used to buy helpers in Super Cat Tales and playable cats in Magic Bridge!. In Super Cat Tales 2, coins serve multiple purposes. They can be used to purchase special items, many of which are necessary to complete the game. If the player loses a live within a level, they will be offered to continue from their current position by paying 50 coins. When asking Kuro to join the team, he agrees in exchange for 500 coins. In Super Cat Tales: PAWS, they can be used to purchase both helpers and hats. In PAWS base, the player can enjoy minigames in an arcade building with a certain amount of coins.

Within the stages of the main Super Cat Tales games, coins can usually be found out in the open, visible to the player. Some coins may be concealed behind foreground scenery, such as the overhanging block in World 3-1 of Super Cat Tales 2. Coins may also be found in the ground, beneath undisturbed clods of dirt that can be dug up with a shovel or in destructible interactive scenery that can be uncovered by running into it.
