The stargazers are an antagonistic faction that serve Lord Iridium . They appear as non-playable characters and enemies in Super Cat Tales 2, and their leader appears as a boss at the end of world 4.

Physical appearance[edit]

Stargazers have a round body that is colored light blue. They have a pair of arms shaped like white circles and a pair of dark gray feet that are shaped like semicircles with the flat side facing down. They have a pair of curved, black eyes and a black mouth shaped like a short horizontal line. Stargazers also wear a black hat that is straight on the sides and round at the top, with a small dark gray spike on either side. The hat has a white eye with a black pupil that is shaped like a semicircle with the flat side facing up.

NPC role[edit]

Stargazers first appear as NPCs in Hikari City. They also appear in cutscenes in world 4, where they receive orders from Lord Iridium to bring him the moon crystal. The stargazers travel with Captain Lace to Kaze Towers to get access to some new tanks. All stargazer NPCs disappear shortly after the defeat of their leader.

Quotes[edit]

NPC stargazer in Hikari City:

  • I joined the stargazers! You should too.
  • The stars have aligned. Isn't it wonderful?
  • Lord Iridium and we stargazers will rule the world!
  • Just you wait!

World 4-3 cutscene:

  • We stargazers welcome you, Lord Iridium.
  • Since your arrival we have felt a strong energy from the stars.
  • Show us the way.
  • Show us!
  • ...moon crystal?
  • Yes! Of course!
  • Yes! The stars have spoken!

Enemy role[edit]

A stargazer throwing a potion at Alex in world 4-6.

Behavior[edit]

Stargazers are typically found on elevated platforms with a limited amount of walking space. If either end of the platform is not against a wall, the stargazer will walk back and forth at a constant pace, turning at the end of the platform. If the platform is too short or against a wall, the stargazer will remain stationary.

If the player approaches a stargazer, it will throw a potion towards the cat's general direction. These potions will travel in a straight line diagonally, bouncing off any walls. Upon hitting the ground, the potion bottle will break and two fireballs will move outwards in opposite arcs away from the point of impact. If a cat comes into contact with the potion or its fireballs, the player will take damage. If the cat is hit by the potion, the bottle will disappear and no fireballs will be sent out.

Strategy[edit]

Stargazers can be defeated in one hit by running into them from any side with Olli or Robo Kitty. Due to their elevated position, the player may only be able to defeat the enemy if they are able to run and jump to the stargazer's position. The player can also protect themselves from the potions or fireballs by having them hit the cat's front side while equipped with the shield. If the cat remains still just before the spot where the thrown potion breaks, the dispelled fireballs may travel over the cat and not cause damage.
