Kappa are enemies in Yokai Dungeon, Super Cat Tales 2 and Drop Wizard. They also appear as a playable character in Yokai Dungeon.

Physical appearance

Enemy kappa have a light green body with a yellow beak, arms and legs. In Yokai Dungeon, kappa have a distinct head and body with round hands and webbed feet. They also have a white belly. The playable character has a blue body instead of a light green one.

In Super Cat Tales 2 and Drop Wizard, kappa are stubbier and do not have a distinct separation between the head and body. Their bodies are round and they have a pair of black eyes that are closed in Super Cat Tales 2 and open in Drop Wizard. The Super Cat Tales 2 version has a yellow headpiece and shading around the top of their body. The Drop Wizard version has a flatter head with a thin layer of blue at the top and dark green cheek spots.

Yokai Dungeon

Kappa appear in Swamp rooms and wander around the level, pausing every few steps. If they face the direction of the player within a close distance (including outside the perimeters of the arena), they will spit out a stream of bubbles that travel through obstacles and blocks over the distance of two tiles. The player will lose health if they make contact with the bubbles.

Kappa can be defeated by pushing a block into them from any side. Upon defeat, a few coins will drop into the arena.

Super Cat Tales 2

Kappa walk back and forth along the ground or on elevated platforms, turning at ledges and pausing every few steps. They may also remain stationary and can also be found underwater or partially submerged under the water's surface.

If the player is in close enough proximity to a kappa, it will stop walking and jump up and down in a straight line at a distance high enough off the ground that the player can walk under. When the kappa reaches the ground, it will fire two water droplets that travel outwards in an arc and disappear on contact with any surface. These droplets will damage the player on contact. If a kappa is found submerged in water, it will not fire the droplets and only jump. The kappa will continuously jump if the player remains nearby and will only stop firing once the player is a far enough distance away.

Kappa can be defeated in one hit by running into them from any side with Olli or Robo Kitty. The player can also equip the shield to protect themselves from oncoming droplets from the front side.

Drop Wizard

Kappa turn on the first end of a platform, but fall off the opposite end. As they fall, they release two water droplets that travel outwards in an arc. These droplets will cause Teo to lose health in contact.

Kappa can be stunned from any side with a projectile. They will also be instantly defeated when caught in a roll of enemies from any side.

Character role

A blue kappa appears as a playable character in Yokai Dungeon.
