Fish (Super Cat Tales: PAWS)

Catching a common goldfish.

Fish refer to the underwater creatures that can be caught at fishing spots in Super Cat Tales: PAWS. They can be sold to the merchant at Portobello for coins or delivered to NPCs for quests.

Uses[edit]

Selling fish to the merchant in Portobello.

Fish can be sold to the merchant close to the player's entrance at Portobello. The merchant will ask if the player wants to sell all their fish and provides the total of all fish currently in the player's bag. Upon pressing "ok!", all fish from the player's bag will be gone and the player will gain the number of coins stated by the merchant. Certain fish may also be requested by NPCs in exchange for rewards.

The size and type of fish do not have an effect on the selling price. All fish, regardless of type, sell for the same amount of coins per species. Any additional coins the player earns from rare or golden types are awarded to the player upon catching the fish.

Species[edit]

Each species can be found in one of the two fishing spots currently available in the game. Some species may be active at specific times of the day or may require an upgraded fishing rod to catch.

Fish will spawn according to three designated periods of time:

  • Daylight - Starts at 6 AM and lasts until 6 PM.
  • Dusk - Starts at 6 PM and lasts until 8 PM.
  • Night - Starts at 8 PM and lasts until 6 AM.

Updates[edit]

Fish sell prices were reduced in the 1.0.30 update. Original prices were as follows:

  • Fish that sell for Coins 3 previously sold for Coins 4.
  • Fish that sell for Coins 5 previously sold for Coins 8.
  • Fish that sell for Coins 12 previously sold for Coins 16.
  • Fish that sell for Coins 24 previously sold for Coins 32.

Types[edit]

Each species has three types of variations that can be caught. All fish stack per species in the bag, regardless of type.

  • Common - The most likely type of fish to be caught. Some common fish appear as enemies in certain levels.
  • Rare - Has a lower chance of being caught. This type has a different colouration from their common counterparts. Some rare types have an altered physical appearance that is visible underwater.
  • Golden - May also be referred to as "shiny", these fish are the least likely to be present in the water. Golden fish have the same physical appearance as their common counterparts, but are coloured yellow with sparkles.
  • Legendary - These fish are referred to as being "super rare to find" and "very difficult to catch".[1] They were mentioned in Devlog #22, but are not present in the game's current release.

Bonuses[edit]

Rare and golden types grant the player with a coin bonus upon successfully reeling the fish to the dock. The amount is calculated using an internal rank assigned to each species with the value of the type, i.e. rare or golden.[2]

The internal rank is multiplied by 25 for rare fish and 100 for golden fish.
