Chilly rocks

Chilly rocks, specifically named Sneeze and Snooze, are obstacles in Lost Yeti. The latter, Snooze, appears as an enemy in Super Cat Tales 2. Sneeze and Snooze are brothers.[1]

Physical appearance[edit]

Snooze in Super Cat Tales 2 has a rectangular, light gray body with shading but no visible texture. His eyes are horizontal black lines, and he has blue cheek spots and a light blue running downwards just below and between his eyes. He has a light blue beanie with a white rim and top.

In Lost Yeti, chilly rocks are the same size as normal ice blocks. Their textures are similar to that of the barrier blocks that surround the levels in Snowy Hills. Chilly rocks wear a cap on top of their flat heads. Their eyes run in a diagonal towards the middle of their face and their cheeks are blue. They are also seen with two pink feet. They wear beanie hats with a white ball on top. Sneeze has a red hat, while Snooze has a blue one.

Enemy role[edit]

Behavior[edit]

Snooze can be found walking back and forth along the ground in Super Cat Tales 2, taking occasional pauses in his steps. He will fall off the end of ledges, but turn at walls. If the player gets close enough to Snooze, he will stop walking, then leap high in the air and fall straight down, destroying any small blocks in his path. If the player does not move, Snooze will land directly on top of them. Snooze has a set path of which he will stick to within a level, and if he jumps slightly out of bounds, he will walk back towards the area where he was first encountered.

Strategy[edit]

The player can defeat Snooze without taking damage by running into him from any side with McMeow, Olli or Robo Kitty. If the player approaches Snooze from the front side, they may be able to defeat him before he leaps. Snooze can also be defeated if he crushes ice blocks and enters the water below.

In the level Mountain Pass, Snooze can be used to destroy the gray blocks barricading a bell in a small pit by having a cat stand over the blocks and moving away as Snooze is alerted. This allows the player to collect the bell in the level without needing Brutus or Robo Kitty, who are not obtainable until the later stages or end of the game.

Obstacle role[edit]

The first chilly rock appears in level 13 of Snowy Hills in Lost Yeti as Sneeze. They remain dormant for the entire duration of the level, unless an ice block is placed against them. Upon doing so, chilly rocks will reveal their feet and faces and move a single block step away from the ice, destroying popsicles on its path. They then go back to their dormant position until another ice block is next to them.

Chilly rocks may be obstacles the player must clear for the yeti, but they can also be used to hold down key buttons, which is necessary in some levels of Icy Cave. Chilly rocks do not harm the yeti, and will pass through him if they move directly onto his path.
