The giant turnip is a boss in Drop Wizard and Drop Wizard (browser). It also appears as an enemy in Super Cat Tales 2 and is a larger variant of the turnip.

Physical appearance[edit]

Super Cat Tales 2[edit]

The giant turnip has a round body that is narrower at the top and pale peach colored with darker peach shading for the details, which appear to be curved shapes. Its face has a long, upside-down w that is also the same color as the details over a pair of eyes that are black with gray pupils and shaped like tall, thin rectangles. There are three green leaves that stick out at the top at different angles and it has a pair of orange feet that are round at the top and flat at the bottom.

Drop Wizard games[edit]

The giant turnip's body is narrower at the top than its Super Cat Tales 2 appearance. Its body is colored a light pink, with a darker shade of pink used for the details, including the unibrow-like line over the eyes. Other details include a set of blush for the cheeks shaped like lengthwise ovals. The two eyes are tall black rectangles with white pupils and it has a black mouth in the shape of a thin line. In the mobile version, the mouth curves downwards forming a sad expression, whereas the browser version has the mouth as a straight horizontal line forming a neutral expression.

The giant turnip has three green leaves at the top. In the mobile version, the leaves sprout out of a more defined base, however, in the browser version, the base for the leaves is stubbier. The browser version's leaves are also rounder and thicker, and all the leaves have a shine to them.

Boss role[edit]

Accessing[edit]

The giant turnip is the first boss fought in both Drop Wizard and Drop Wizard (browser). In the mobile version, the player must play through all the previous levels in Cedar Woods Act 1 before they can face the giant turnip, even after they unlock later level packs.

In the browser version, the giant turnip is fought in level 6 and this level can be accessed at any time directly from the level select screen once it is unlocked.

When the player starts moving in the arena, the giant turnip will either emerge from the ground (mobile) or fall onto the topmost platform (browser), initiating the battle.

Behavior[edit]

The giant turnip spawning in turnips, with red x's indicating the turnip's spawn points.

The giant turnip will first stomp on the ground and spawn a set of four turnips, one on each of the grassy platforms closest to the sides. It will then begin to walk to the left, falling off the end of platforms and turning when reaching the side of the arena. If the player has defeated at least three of the turnips, the giant turnip will spawn four additional turnips when it reaches the top platform after falling off the ground platform at the bottom. If the player still has three or more turnips by the time the giant turnip reaches the top, it will pause briefly before resuming its walking pattern without spawning any additional turnips.

When the giant turnip is damaged, it will run downwards until it reaches the top in the mobile version. It does not change behavior when damaged in the browser version.

Strategy[edit]

The player must knock the spawned turnips into the giant turnip to deal damage. In the mobile version, spawned turnips will begin in their stunned state, whereas in the browser version, they will spawn in their normal, walking state. Thus, in the mobile version, the player can stand nearby the spawn points of the turnips to immediately roll them once they appear on the platform. In the browser version, the player must stun the turnips first before they can roll them.

Each hit, regardless of the amount of enemies in the roll, deals one hit of damage, indicated by the loss of leaves at the top of the boss. After three successful hits, the giant turnip is defeated.

Enemy role[edit]

The giant turnip walks back and forth along the ground, turning at obstacles. Occasionally, it will pause briefly before resuming its walking pattern. It can be defeated using McMeow, Olli or Robo Kitty. The player must first run into the giant turnip from any side to stun it, then run into it again while in its stunned state to defeat it. If the giant turnip recovers from its stun, the player must run into it again to stun it. Upon defeat, it will drop a bell.
