Snake
Snakes are enemies in Shovel Pirate. They are found in beach and jungle levels.
Physical appearance[edit]
Snakes have a red body with a lighter red, horizontally striped underbelly. Half their body, from the tail up, is on the ground while the other half, up to the head, is off the ground and visible. Snakes have a pair of black eyes shaped like thin vertical rectangles with light red pupils. They have a round head and pointed tail.
Behavior[edit]
Snakes move along the ground and may turn at set points within an area. If there is a wall or a platform behind them, snakes will move behind the surface and come out the opposite end, allowing them to walk in one continuous direction without ever turning. They will hurt the player upon direct contact.
Strategy[edit]
Snakes can be defeated by hitting them with the pirate's shovel. They can also be defeated with a baseball if the player stands near the snake as the monkey throws the baseball. When the snake is about to move behind a surface, it will turn a darker color and the player can make contact with it without taking damage.
