Flag poles are interactive objects in Shovel Pirate. They appear in every level.

Physical appearance

The flag pole appears to be wooden, tall and thin, with a wider, thin base and a rounded top. When activated, the flag that appears is rectangular and has a white skull against a black background.

Behavior

Flag poles can be seen swaying from side to side, bending while remaining in one place. One flag pole appears somewhere in each level, typically to the far right of the player's starting point. When the pirate hits the flag pole with their shovel, the flag will pop out. Confetti will rain from the top of the screen and an applause sound effect can be heard. After a brief moment, the level screen becomes translucent as a smaller screen slides down displaying the number of gems collected in the level and whether the collectible was obtained or not.
