Keys are items in Shovel Pirate.

Physical appearance

Keys are yellow with a dark outline. They have a loop in the shape of a rounded rectangle and a straight-edged blade that sticks downward. There are two notches that protrude out the right side.

Behavior

Keys can be found hidden in clods and dug up with the pirate's shovel or they may be found sitting on pink bricks. They need to be collected to unlock doors. Once a key is obtained, it will be displayed on the player's HUD in the top-left corner next to the health indicator. Once the player touches a door with a key, the item is consumed and the player will no longer have the key in their possession.

Locations

Out of Shovel Pirate's 15 levels, there are 8 levels with keys in them. Level 10 is the only level to have more than one key.

Level 3	Found to the left of the level at the top of a platform accessed by going up the ladder.
Level 6	Dig up the sand clod closest to the rock.
Level 8	In the area with a skeleton directly to the right of the spike pit, dig the lowest dirt clod to the left of the door.
Level 10	There are two keys in this level. The first is found to the right of the mice encased within a brick barrier. The player can access it after breaking the two sets of bricks and moving farther to the right. The second is on top of a palm tree with a monkey on it. This is directly to the left of a door with mice running back and forth within an enclosed area.
Level 11	Found on a platform above the door. It can be accessed by climbing up a ladder on the far left and jumping on top of the palm trees to the right.
Level 12	Dig up the dirt clod under the two sets of pink bricks nearby a trap. To set off the trap, the player can push the tribe minion on the topmost pink bricks downward and towards the trap's firing range.
Level 14	Dig up the dirt clod closest to the left of the door, to the right of a trap on lower ground.
Level 15	Dig up the dirt clod closest to the left of the door, on lower ground and in the area with a skeleton and crow.
