Sign posts are interactive objects in Shovel Pirate.

Behavior

Sign posts are found in the first half of the game. When the pirate is close enough to one, it will display a speech bubble showing the player information related to the gameplay mechanics or the controls. Once the player is far enough away from the sign post, the bubble will disappear.
