Skeleton (Shovel Pirate)

Skeletons are enemies in Shovel Pirate. They are found in all graveyard levels.

Physical appearance[edit]

Skeletons have a large, round head and a body with visible rib bones. They have a pair of circle-shaped hands and semicircle-shaped red feet. They are mainly white colored with black outlines for the hands, facial features and bone segments. Their eyes have red pupils and a gray crack can be seen near the top-side of the head.

Behavior[edit]

Skeletons are encountered walking back and forth on the ground, including pits with spikes. They move at a slower pace than snakes and mice and will turn at ledges or at set points on the ground. If the player hits a skeleton with the pirate's shovel, the skeleton will be knocked back, then start running back and forth. They will turn at the end of a platform behind them if they are on a lower point of the ground and are the only enemy that does not bounce on spikes when defeated.

Strategy[edit]

Skeletons take two hits with the shovel to defeat. Once in their running state, hitting a skeleton again will cause its skull to be left behind. This skull can be pushed around with the shovel and can be used as a solid platform for the player to land on. In some levels, the player may need to defeat a skeleton and use its skull to reach certain gems or get across spike pits.
