The introductory titlescreen to Type of Friends

Super Cat Tales Shorts are a series of minute-long videos uploaded to the Neutronized YouTube channel to promote some aspect of Super Cat Tales 2. Each short features Alex, Amy, Brutus, Kuro, Olli and Shinji participating in an activity related to the video's subject, and may include other cats in the Super Cat Tales series.

Structure

Every video opens with a title card displaying the Super Cat Tales series logo against a cascading tiled background coloured and decorated to fit the theme of the subject. A stock music loop plays over the entire duration of the video, though some sound effects relating to specific activities may be heard over certain slides. The word "Shorts" enters below the logo in a left-to-right written animation. The title card fades to black and displays the title of the short in the centre of the screen against a plain coloured background. In later videos, the title card may be displayed on a coloured background.

The video then features a series of static shots presented in a slideshow style with fade-to-black transitions. These slides showcase the cats performing an activity related to the video's title, along with one line of accompanying text at the bottom-centre of the screen. All shots feature some basic animation involving the text, certain characters or set pieces moving back and forth. A few also have action present within its sequence, such as Shinji disappearing from the mirror in "How to Celebrate Halloween". Every shot lasts for approximately six seconds before fading to black and transitioning to the next.

The final slide featuring the cats involves a promotion. This is often "Play Super Cat Tales 2" and features a cartoon depiction of one or more of the cats playing the game. The short "Surprise Party", released in September 2020, was the first to promote a product related to the Super Cat Tales series, ie. the Alex plush toy on Makeshift, rather than a particular game. "Type of Friends" and "Friday with Friends" are currently the only shorts to not feature any direct promotion within their slides.

After all slides have played, a solid colour screen with the words, "The End" in the centre will be shown before transitioning to an outro screen.

Fall Activities

Friday with Friends

"Watch your fav series" - Luna, Shinji, Olli and Amy are seated in front of a bright television screen in a dark room. Luna has fallen asleep next to Shinji, and Olli is passing a bowl of popcorn to Amy. Alex appears to be yelling at Brutus on the left side of the screen. "The diva" - Amy has one arm wrapped around Alex, while the other extends outwards to take a selfie. Amy poses with a wink and a kiss, while Alex appears dazed. "The dorky one" - Kuro and Alex appear to be in front of a bus stop at Hikari City, next to a Tamago. Camping with Friends

Description	Here's a new cute animation about Super Cat Tales. This time the cats are spending their Summer camping in a nice location. They're gonna set up a tent first, facing some issues. After the tent is set up Shinji is up for some fishing and having a close encounter with the giant fish Big Fin. Meanwhile Amy decided to go explore the wild nature, hiking inside a nice forest! She'll have to pay attention as the wild animals are always nearby. It's getting dark and while Brutus is roasting some marshmallow Olli decided to tell some spooky ghost stories to Alex and Luna sitting around a fireplace. This has been an exciting day and Alex decided to play some Super Cat Tales 2 on his mobile device before falling asleep!

Seaside with Friends
Released	August 15, 2020
Description	Here's a new cute animation about Super Cat Tales. This time the cats are spending their Summer at the seaside. First they gonna drive to the seaside on the bus of the major of Hikari City, what a ride! After that Amy and Luna will rest under their parasol and get some sun meanwhile Brutus is trying to eat his popsicle before it's too late! The day ain't over yet and Kuro has decided to build a sandcastle. I guess it's go big or go home, that's why Kuro built a super huge sandcastle. Do you think he will invite Olli to come in? Meanwhile Shinji is diving into the water and checking out the corals and fish while swimming. What about Alex? He's enjoying a lemonate [sic] under the shade and playing a bit of Super Cat Tales 2!

Brutus is seen to the left of them, getting ready to eat a pink popsicle. The popsicle soon melts and Brutus appears surprised. "Build a sandcastle" - Olli is surprised to see Kuro on top of a large sandcastle. Kuro is laughing. "Go swimming" - Shinji has dove underwater while wearing a green diving mask. He is among two green fish and a seastar is seen at the bottom of the ocean. A fishing weight is seen on the surface of the water. "Play Super Cat Tales 2" - Alex is seated at a table with a lemonade drink while holding a mobile device.

Board games with Friends
Released	August 29, 2020
Description	Here's a new Super Cat Tales Short. This time the cats have decided to meet up and play some board games together. First thing they gotta pick a board game to play, Olli is selecting a few of his favorite board games when ..whoops! One board game falls off his paws. Since this board game is already out of its box I guess we can just play this one already, thinks Alex. It's up to Brutus, Kuro, and Pascal to set up the board game, this means placing all the cards and pieces onto the table but looks like Kuro lost one of his red cards. Meanwhile Brutus is eating a chocolate bar and building up some hunger, this is why he eventually dicedes to aim for the kitchen and get a bigger snack, one of his favorite sandwiches. Meanwhile it looks like Shinji and Amy are bickering on the rules. Amy has got a special card that makes her win the game but Shinji is not so sure about that so he wants to double check the rules while Amy is a bit annoyed by that. In the middle of this chaos Luna decides to head outside to get some peace and play her favorite mobile game, Super Cat Tales 2!

In the open window next to her, Amy and Shinji are seen arguing with each other.

Surprise Party
Released	September 19, 2020
Description	Looks like the cats are throwing a surprise party! Have you ever done that? It's super easy, first you need to decorate the room as Luna and Kuro are doing. Luna is attaching some decorations to the wall while Kuro is blowing up a giant balloon. In the meantime Pascal and Brutus are checking on the buffet, Brutus is the official taster and wants to make sure everything is super good. Looks like the special guest has arrived, surprise!! Alex is welcomed by the other cats as soon as he walks inside the Neko house. Shinji and Olli are throwing some confetti at Alex while Amy gives him a super special gift. What's the gift, you ask? It's a super special plush toy of Alex, available on Makeship for a limited time only. Be sure to get yours now!

"Check on the buffet" - Pascal brings an open box of pizza to a table filled with food, where Brutus awaits with gleaming eyes and a drooling mouth. Brutus holds a fork in his right paw. "Surprise!!" - Alex has entered into the room and is greeted by Olli, Amy and Shinji. Amy holds a party popper that has dispersed confetti. Four floating balloons are visible in the shot. "Give a special present" - Amy hands a gift box with a red ribbon to Alex. "Get your plush today!" - A real life picture of the Alex plush toy rotates back and forth against the same background as the previous shot. The plush, according to the video description, is the present Amy has given Alex.

School with Friends
Released	June 23, 2021
Description	Time for a new Super Cat Tales short! How do you spend your time at school? Today we gonna check out how our cats are funkin' at school with their friends. Enjoy!

"Meet new friends" - While sitting on the seats of the schoolbus next to Shinji, Luna greets the red and giant panda from Swap-Swap Panda across the aisle. "Get ready for online class" - Olli is sound asleep in his bed. An open book, piece of paper and laptop are visible on top of the covers. "Play Super Cat Tales 2" - Amy sits on a bench, presumably playing on her phone.

History with COPPA

On November 12, 2019, a YouTube automated process run to comply with COPPA caused all of the Super Cat Tales Shorts to be flagged as "Made for kids". The videos in the series, at the time, were How to Celebrate Halloween, Fall Activities and Friday with Friends. Gionathan announced that he would stop making the shorts due to a loss of revenue and the deactivation of comments on those videos. He initially opted to not change the automated setting and considered it "risky", citing the FTC's $42,000 per video fine. Gionathan followed up his first announcement video of the incident a week later, where he made a motion to encourage his fans to contact the FTC and sign petitions in an effort to stop COPPA from being effected on YouTube.

After a follow-up post from the FTC near the end of November 2019, Gionathan concluded that the rules for COPPA compliance set by YouTube were not as restrictive as presumed. For instance, bright colours and cartoon characters did not necessarily mean that the content would automatically be solely for kids. Gionathan stated the possibility of resuming his Super Cat Tales Shorts. The next video in the series, Type of Friends, was released in December 14, 2019, a month and seven days after the previous video. Additional videos in the series would not be released until August 2020, eight months after.
