T-rex

The T-rex is a boss in Dino Quake. It appears in level 18 (3-💀) and is the final boss fought before completing the game.

Behaviour[edit]

The T-rex walks back and forth on the platform it is situated on. Periodically, it will pause before jumping to the platform directly above or below and towards the general direction of the player. Afterwards, it will resume its walking pattern. This behaviour is similar to that of the Stegosaurus.

Strategy[edit]

To defeat the T-rex, the player must damage all the three plates on its back by landing a quake on the same platform the plate is currently on. Each plate needs to be hit successfully at least two times in any order and will turn red upon the second hit.

Due to the T-rex's size and the limited number of platforms, the player must remain below the t-rex at the start of the level to get it into a position where they can land hits. Only the middle and the bottom platforms allow the player to hit the top and bottom plates while the T-rex is moving. The middle plate never stays in line with any of the platforms while the T-rex is walking and must be hit as it is jumping to the adjacent platform, thus providing a smaller window of time to land a successful hit compared to the top or bottom plates.

Once the T-rex is defeated, it will drop off the bottom of the screen, where three Diamond Diamonds spawn.
